Question 1

Can I bring an interpreter to my USCIS interview?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For many interviews, USCIS allows you to bring a qualified interpreter if you have difficulty speaking English. The interpreter must be at least 18, fluent in English and your language, and cannot be your attorney or a witness in your case.

Question 2

Do I need an interpreter for the naturalization English test?

Accepted Answer

No. An interpreter is not permitted for the English test portion of the naturalization interview. However, if you qualify for an exemption or need help with the civics portion or application review, an interpreter may be appropriate — check your interview notice.

Question 3

Which interpreter should I choose — in person or phone?

Accepted Answer

In-person interpretation is preferred for interviews where USCIS expects the interpreter to be physically present. Phone interpretation works when permitted by USCIS or for related calls. If unsure, contact us and we will help you decide.

Question 4

Are your interpreters qualified and impartial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our interpreters are experienced, neutral professionals who faithfully convey questions and answers without advising you or altering your testimony.
